Days of Energy Efficiency to continue: conference “Cost of saving. Materials and technologies for decreasing operating costs”

On the 18th of September in the KyivExpoPlaza exhibition center, the question of the agenda of many Ukrainians “How to save on energy?”, especially in residential apartment houses and cottages, was answered by the most competent specialists of the sector not only from Ukraine, but from the near neighborhood, too.

Tetiana Shulha, executive director of Ukrainian Building Community, acted as the event moderator.

The first to speak was Oleksii Korchmyt, deputy head of State Agency on Energy Efficiency of Ukraine. In his speech, he told about the realization and the prospects of the National program on heating insulation of residential housing that was quite well-known by many people participating in the working groups on selecting equipment supported by the state.

In realization of the program, experience of Poland and Eastern Germany is used. Namely these two countries had the most complex approach to the problem of surplus energy consumption in residential communities.

Within the frames of the program, the mechanism of refinancing heating insulation of residential housing between the state, local budgets and apartment owners was initiated. Unfortunately, at the time the largest volume of gas was consumed by the residential sector.

Oleksii Korchmyt considered the program to possibly become the starting point of Ukraine’s economy growth, as according to estimations decreasing energy consumption is 4 times more efficient than constructing new production facilities.

Grzegorz Gajda, head of programs at the International Financial Corporation IFC Group, put a real example of Poland – the project that had been realized back in the 1990s.

Vadym Lytvyn, head of Kyiv center for communal enterprise effectiveness, spoke on one of ways of decreasing energy consumption and installation of individual heating stations. Vadym explained the way saving was achieved, stages of realization of the project on installation of individual heating stations and their use.

He stated that the project realization was starting from equipment maintenance and energy consumption control.

Head of maintenance companies, unions of co-owners of apartment houses, top managers of banks providing loans for energy efficiency programs in communal living, and mass media took part in the event.

The event was organized by Ukrainian Building Community and Kyiv International Contract Fair, Ltd.
